It’s the peak of the cricket season and if you love to play the game, you know the importance of a good quality bat. If you want the real deal, these beauties don’t come cheap and it pays to take good care of them. This doesn’t take much effort, but it does involve using the right products.
Here’s a look at why our cricket bat wax Hit Four Six, with its blend of pure beeswax and cold-pressed linseed oil, will help to keep your kit in top-notch condition and let you make at least a century on each and every innings. And if you don’t, someone else is cheating!
Why the wax & oil combo?
Traditionally, linseed oil is used to maintain cricket bats. However, it carries the risk of over-oiling, adding unnecessary weight to the bat, changing its balance and potentially even damaging the willow.
Our blend combines the conditioning power of cold-pressed linseed oil with the protective barrier of pure beeswax, resulting in deep nourishment without the drawbacks.
The beeswax helps seal in the oil and adds an extra layer of protection against moisture, cracking and general wear.
When & how to apply bat wax
Apply bat wax:
- Before first use (if your bat hasn’t already been pre-conditioned)
- At the start of the season
- After knocking in your bat
- Any time your bat feels dry, dull or splintered
As a rule of thumb, reapply at least three times a season during heavy use, or at the change of each season.
How to apply:
Ensure that the surface is free from dust and dirt before applying (but don’t clean it with liquids). Apply a small amount of wax with a lint-free cloth or your fingers to the face, edges and back of the bat, but avoid the splice (the triangular pieces that connect the handle).
Leave it to absorb for at least a few hours, then gently buff with a soft cloth. Repeat as necessary.
